Ian Davidson-Watts CBiol, MIBiol, MIEEM
  • Previously worked for English Nature as their National Species Legislation and Licensing Officer and as a Conservation Officer in Hampshire.
  • Holds an England wide scientific and conservation licence to work with bats since 1994 and has held a trainer’s licence since 1997. He also holds a licence to work with bats in Wales.
  • Licensed to undertake mist netting, harp trapping, radio-tracking and ringing bats as well as the use of an ultrasonic lure.
  • HND (Dist) in Conservation Management and is currently finalising a PhD on the habitat preferences of Pipistrelle bats. He has also authored a number of papers published in scientific journals.
  • Holds licences to work with great crested newts, sand lizards and smooth snakes.
  • Provider of expert advice in a number of capacites including the Barbastelle and Bechstein’s bats Technical Advisory Group, and as an expert witness for a number of legal cases involving protected species.
  • Approved instructor for LANTRA and the Bat Conservation Trust.
