SPECIALISTS IN PROTECTED SPECIES

Training & Education

We are licensed to train people for their licences to work with bats for both conservation/education and scientific purposes.

With long experience of protected species advisory and management work we also develop specific training packages relating to protected species and in particular during planning process, for a range of statutory and non-statutory organisations.

Advances in technology associated with bat surveying have necessitated the need for specialist training in the capture and analysis of bat sounds. We offer complete training packages on the use of specialist equipment and the analysis and interpretation of bat calls with both heterodyne and broadband bat detector systems.

Who we work for:
We have written and run courses for a variety of people and organisations, for example:
  • National Trust wardens on use of bat detectors
  • Natural England volunteer bat workers
  • MOD employees in protected species
  • Arborists through LANTRA/Bat Conservation Trust
  • Field Studies Council - specialist bat survey techniques
  • Bat Conservation Trust- bat handling/bat consultants
  • Environmental Consultants- bat licence training
  • Local Planning Authorities- legislation and PPS9

We are more than happy to discuss your specific requirements for training in any aspects of bat work.
